Video Report on the Results of Australia’s 1996 Gun Ban

Australia banned private ownership of most guns in 1996, and crime has risen dramatically on that continent, prompting critics of U.S. gun control efforts to issue new warnings of what life in America could be like if Congress ever bans firearms. Continue reading

Gun Control, the Jews, and the Third Reich

It is far too facile to dismiss any comparison between the rise of Hitler and a threat from analogous policies in a viable democracy. As scholar Stephen P. Halbrook notes, historians have failed to see gun-control policies as the prelude to the rise of tyranny, even in Nazi Germany. Continue reading

More Gun Control Hypocrisy

Barack Obama frolics poolside on Father’s Day with what appears to be, by definition, a ‘military assault rifle.’ Yes, we know it’s a toy, which begs the bigger question. Is this simply an innocent, playful moment between father and child? Or do you see a president setting a horrible example for his children and fellow countrymen? Continue reading

Words of Wisdom: Josiah Quincy, Jr.

“No free government was ever founded or ever preserved its liberty, without uniting the characters of the citizen and soldier in those destined for the defence of the state… Such are a well regulated militia, composed of the freeholders, citizen and husbandman, who take up arms to preserve their property, as individuals, and their rights as freemen.” — Josiah Quincy, Jr., Thoughts on Standing Armies, 1774 Continue reading

Tyranny and the Monopoly of Arms

“…gun ownership by the immense majority serves to prevent crime. Criminals have second thoughts regarding killing and plundering peaceful individuals who may be armed. Since criminals will always have guns (no criminals would register their guns, and besides, zip guns are easy to make), it is necessary that potential victims be able to arm themselves to prevent crime. Each month the American Rifleman, under the column “The Armed Citizen”, cites numerous instances in which private guns have prevented crimes.” Continue reading
