North Carolina Senate Passes Bill Requiring Teaching of Our Founding Principles

North Carolina’s State Board of Education would require that students learn principles that were fundamental to the founding of the United States, if legislation now being considered in the Tar Heel State is enacted. Continue reading

Words That Replace Thought

To ask whether institutions that promote diversity 24/7 end up with better or worse relations between the races than institutions that pay no attention to it is only to get yourself regarded as a bad person. To cite hard evidence that places obsessed with diversity have worse race relations is to risk getting yourself labeled an incorrigible racist. Free thinking is not free. Continue reading

The Case Against Public Education

If public education is allowed to survive, all efforts to resuscitate the inert husk of modern civilization will fail. It is time to unravel the most wasteful and destructive entitlement program of all. Cancer cells do not divide into healthy cells. A corrupted, power-intoxicated political class will not willingly raise a freedom-loving, self-reliant populace. Governments must no longer be allowed to pre-determine their nations’ fates, by mass producing the populace that serves their interests. Continue reading

Redistribution as Slavery

By advancing the welfare state and income redistribution through class warfare, one of the basic intellectually inconsistent ironies of liberalism is exposed: the indefensible practice of trying to defend equality and the dignity of man by violating the human rights of those very people you claim to be defending. The hypocrisy of the left knows no boundaries. Continue reading

The Kentucky and Virginia Resolutions: Guideposts of Limited Government

For true change to take place, Americans must once again conceive of their history as a struggle to create and maintain real freedom. Part of that reconceptualization would entail making a place for the Kentucky and Virginia resolutions in the pantheon of American charters. The resolutions articulate the fundamental principles of our government in an eloquent yet logical manner; in their import, they rank second only to the Constitution. For Americans who would recreate a limited federal government of enumerated powers — the government created by the Founders — the resolutions can serve as an enduring inspiration. Continue reading

The People Speak: Wendy McElroy

It is illegal to sell food or meals you prepare without permission. It is illegal to repair or extend your own home without government inspection. The taxman eyes barter as tax avoidance. Home businesses must be reported and income assessed. Homeschooling is under attack. And the fight to own a gun in self-protection seems never to end. Continue reading

Should Only Those Who Pay Taxes Should be Allowed to Vote?

Our republic, in its current form, cannot continue forever. The old adage that once the peasants learn that they can vote themselves bread is rapidly proving itself to be true. Continue reading

The Republic Cannot Survive So Much Dependency

It is not “compassionate” to promise more and more government benefits when it is our children and grandchildren who will be forced to pay for them. It is not “caring” to encourage greater and greater dependence on a system destined for collapse without reform. Continue reading

From Great Society to Hate Society: The Progressives and the Unbroken Chain of Political Bondage

The horrible unspoken truth is that entitlements ensured that this minority-voting bloc would forever remain loyal to the Democrats — by keeping them slaves to a system upon which they have become wholly dependent. Continue reading
