Something Wicked This Way Comes: Obama’s Unconstitutional Federal Police Force and Standing Domestic Army

You say you want a revolution? Be careful what you wish for, Mr. Obama. A federal DHS police force and an army of militarized local cops under their jurisdiction is a sure way to help bring it about. Continue reading

What Our Founders Feared: Lawmakers Now Empower Non-Elected to Make Laws

The first line of the first article of the Constitution has become so distorted that most laws are now written and promulgated by executive agencies, not by Congress. Continue reading

Enemy Inside the Gates: Cicero’s Prognosis and the Supreme Adjudication of ‘The Great Society’

Perhaps Benjamin Franklin knew what he was talking about when he told the young nation, after it had adopted its Constitution, in substance, that they had gained a free and independent nation but did not have the common sense to keep it. Continue reading

On Constitution Day: ‘A Republic, if You Can Keep It’

It is remarkable the number of citizens that regard the United States of America as a ‘democracy.’ It is, of course, a Constitutional Republic, and always has been so. Thomas Jefferson regarded the distinction as such: “A democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where fifty-one percent of the people may take away the rights of the other forty-nine.” This article, slightly revised from its original form, first appeared in the November 6, 2000 issue of The New American. It is appropriate that we reacquaint ourselves with our Republican form of government on this Constitution Day 2014. Continue reading

The Education of Our Children (According to Jefferson)

An enlightened citizenry is indispensable for the proper functioning of a republic. Self-government is not possible unless the citizens are educated sufficiently to enable them to exercise oversight. It is therefore imperative that the nation see to it that a suitable education be provided for all its citizens. (Thomas Jefferson) Continue reading

Story-Killers: How the Common Core Destroys Minds and Souls

Common Core is the deliberate replacement of teaching critical thought with what amounts to sociopolitical programming. The fact that it’s being perpetrated against children makes it one of the most despicable, immoral acts in America over the last century. Continue reading

The Meaning of Liberty

Our concept of liberty today is pale and thin compared with that of the Founders. Today we want to believe in liberty (small “l”), but not so much that we could get hurt. As long as we can still say what we want, worship as we please and have a vote, we say we have liberty. We expect that the government will prevent us from making mistakes, rescue us if we do make mistakes and provide for us if we fail. The founding generation wanted no restraints and accepted that they would have no safety net if they failed. This is a concept that is foreign to both of our main political parties today, and to most Americans in general. Continue reading

Carts, Horses, and Secession

The Founders provide a good model; so too, do Thoreau, Gandhi, and Martin Luther King. They showed the power of non-violent tactics. They were also incremental. They began small and slowly escalated, as needed. This requires patience. You will likely lose at each step. But this does not mean you can skip the steps. Suffering will expand in the short term. The political class may use brute force if it feels threatened. Some will be injured. But you will lose if you respond with violence. Please understand — violence is The State’s strength and your weakness. You must not oppose strength with weakness. Continue reading

Reasoning ‘Kenyan Born’

Since when did truth become such a bother? Since when did reason become such an antiquated, unnecessary human attribute? Since the beginning of the end of republicanism. Continue reading

U.S. Emergency Internment and Resettlement Operations: Federal Troops Get Their Marching Orders

We will presume most of you are aware that the U.S. military has been given the authorization by Congress and the president to indefinitely detain Americans under the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

Now comes to light the instruction manual of exactly what our esteemed men and women in uniform are authorized to do — maybe ordered to do — should some person(s) unknown in the basement of a government safe house decide you are a potential threat to the government. Continue reading
